Purpose Driven Life Prayer Commitment

God doesn't call the qualified...He qualifies the called!!!!!!!

Since life is preparing for eternity, I want to use my time on earth fulfilling God's five purposes for me.
I was planned for God's pleasure (worship), so I will use this day to get to know and love God better.
I was formed for God's family (fellowship), so I will use this day to show love to other believers.
I was created to become like Christ (discipleship), so I will use this day to make choices to grow my character.
I was shaped to serve God (ministry), so I will use this day to serve God by serving others.
I was made for a mission (evangelism), so I will use this day to share the Good News.

Pray for the new President!

I get lots of emails these days related to the presidential election...either promoting or making fun of the candidates...Most of the time I feel like presidential elections are just distractions for the masses, that a big money machine guides our country and the president is just a puppet or talking head for us to cheer or blame...but I recently read an article that made me want to cast a vote...I hope we still have a candidate who believes in God. Back in 1787, just 11 years after declaring o… Continue

Don't know why...there's no sun up in the sky...Stormy Weather!!!!

I was listening to christian radio on my way to work the other day and it was one of those messages that you know is meant for you...The man was talking about when Jesus was sleeping during the storm and His shipmates were freaking out...scared to death...worrying....they woke Jesus and wanted Him to do something...He could have calmed the storm right away and then talked to them, but He rebuked them first..."You guys have such little faith!" He made them sweat out the storm for a little while l… Continue

It could get worse, you know!?!?

So, I'm out walking this morning...for exercise, not for fun...and it dawns on me that maybe I just learned a lesson from God...I have struggled financially to some degree all my adult life...but the past two years it has been almost unbearable...and I couldn't understand it. I mean, almost to the minute I decided to rededicate my life to the Lord, financial difficulties have overwhelmed me. Now, don't get me wrong...I have never lived on easy street! I usually had enough money for bills and cou… Continue

Brother, Could you spare a prayer?

I sure could use some prayers! I know that suffering produces perseverence; perseverence, character; and character, hope....(Romans 5:4) But I am growing weak...I have been through trials for the past 2 yrs and just when I think I am coming out of the desert, there is another set-back...I know that I am supposed to rejoice in my sufferings (Romans 5:3) But I am becoming discouraged... I know that my sufferings are trivial compared to many around the world today...but I so want to be a better Ch… Continue

Hi Doug. Hope that by the time you have read this that you will have had a good rest. From what you have told me, it sounds like you are on the right path doing what you are already doing. It doesn't matter whether you are doing much or a little. What does matter and is important is that you are doing something for Him, you are doing what He has already placed upon your heart & u r being faithful. Remember that 'if you are faithful in the little, He will entrust to you much more later on'. Even if what you are doing looks small and insignificant in your own eyes or even in man's eyes, you can be sure that it certainly means something in God's eyes and He does and has taken notice. How can God bless you with more if you have not proven faithful in the little He has already given you my brother? You are already doing something for Him ....be encouraged in that. He WILL bless you! As for those ministries you mentioned, as far as I know they are legit and credible and doing much for the Lord. Don't let them bother or distract you. Continue in what you are doing, if God lays something else on your heart, then go for it, meet the needs....
Check out http://www.metroministries.org/ , the ministry website of Pastor Bill Wilson, a man that is making an impact reaching out to about 20 000 street kids a week in down town New York. This is where I got his slogan, 'the need is the call'. First of all, read his testimony, then the rest. Talk about being radical and sold out for Jesus! Be blessed boet!

Jim brother, you asked 'any tips?'. For starters have you ever felt your attention drawn to an area of ministry that might be missions related? Remember too that 'missions' does not have to be 'overseas', it could be right in your own very own back yard meaning in your own country or even city. If you have felt drawn to a particular area, why not begin praying about it and start working serving in that area? I have found that the more I pray about a particular area of ministry the more and more I pray about it! It eventually became a burden and then desire was birthed. As one pastor in America named Bill Wilson bluntly put it, 'the need is the call'. See what happens boet.... ('boet' is a South African expression meaning 'brother') Hope this helps. God bless!

I agree with you Doug. God does call people and very often it is against the way the world thinks. All I was trying to say is that people should know 100 % when God calls. If He calls, then one should respond wholeheartedly without questioning Him for He knows what He is doing. Then again, one should also use his or head and don't blame God or the evil one when things go wrong:-)Just walk in obedience to Him.
