It’s much more comfortable to receive than to give, and this is why so many, even though we know it’s more blessed to give, choose comfort rather than blessing.

It is wonderful to be a part of a big and growing church, with special programs for both children, teenagers, youth and adults. I know it’s wonderful and I wish everybody could have the privilege of being a part of such a fellowship. Unfortiunaly there are a lot of people who do not have this privilege. In Europe today there are around 200.000 cities and town with not even one evangelical church and all it would take is for someone to be willing to move, with the agenda of starting a church, and settle down.

Many of those who every Sunday sit in church listening to the preaching are more than able to start a church, but it’s more comfortable to receive than to give. Yes, we know that it’s more blessed to give, but still so many choose comfort rather than blessing.

Often we have an image of church that makes it almost impossible to get started. But you don’t need a building, choir, deacons, elders and an youth group to start a church. What you need is to be willing to open your home to people who would like to hear about God, study His word and worship. The church is all about people, and no matter if you would like to start a house church or a mega church you have to start somewhere.

You don’t need a degree in theology and you don’t have to be a preacher. What you need, is to be willing to study the word your self, encourage others to do the same, and then come together and share with each other what you have learned.

I have seen the complancy of the "believers" in the United States, I have been one myself then I started to attend my current church. But this is a church that believes in mircales and Life Acts. Learning from my pastors has been an amazing experience and it has changed my life. In the United States it is easy to walk to into a church and have the comfort and complacity that we have become accoustomed too.
What most people here do not realize is that yes we have the freedom to express our own beliefs but there are those in the world who do not. We as the people of God should never have to fear when we stand up and speak his word. Here we do not have to hide in the shadows but are able to stand in the light of God and that is a freedom that should be allowed around the world. We as Americans have become lazy (but not all of us have) and we are waiting for signs from God to move forward. God has give all the signs that he is going to give in Jesus and we as Christians should stand up and stop waiting for the devil to give us permission to live in the freedom that GOD has promised us.
It took me many years to find that freedom and I believe that I was honestly dieing without God in my life. It took me finding a church that does not allow complacity within its walls. And people who honestly believe that our works and what we sow are more important than the rest of the world.

I agree with your posting. People need to leave and comfort level in order to develop a proper perspective to faith. When we willingly give of ourselves, we are doubly blessed. People need to ve active and not just passive. It's easy to sit on the sidelines, given the current mentality of "being entertained". --Joe

I agree withyou you do not need any of the trappings of a buiding and such.In fact in my studies I have found that the house church was the most prominent form of church for the first 300 years of the christian church because of the persecution coming out of Rome. It wasn't untill Clement of Romes wife became a christian that clement who was emperor at that time made a decree stopping the persecution and during a batle that took place latter, and Clement's forces were losing Clement whent to sleep one night and had a dream, and in that dream he saw a cross, just a cross, and was told in the dream to have his soldiers paint that emblem on thier armor and shields, he did and the batle turned and he had a stunningly quick and complete victory. It was after that victory that he delared christianity the official religion of Rome and started closing down all the pagan temples, and it was these temoles that became some of the first christian churches outside of peoples homes that could opperate without fear of reprisals. This information was picked up while studying with the Online BibLe College, where I earned a degree in Biblical Studies. It used to be free However now they do charge a small fee. Your friend Ralph C England P>S. and yes we do need missionaries but not just in Europe But also here at home as well!, and if you know anyone who is interested. I have a short list of free bible studies people can use if they want to start a church in thier home, you may send thir request for this information to englandralph@gmail.com

Praise the Lord for stepping out and telling people the truth. I have a home base ministry and I love it. I would love to cross the seas and start a church in Haiti or Africa.

I have been living as a Christian sinds my 19 birthday, and now being 50 i can look back but also forward. I have been teaching the youth, for their first communion at age 6/7 and later on the seccond/big communion at age 12 (much to early in my eyes!) i studied for 2 years in the bible had lessons from many catechist's before i had my own seccond communion at age 19 and even that was (so i thinck now ) to soon.
My wife works in hospital as Pastor, she go's to sick and dieing people give them manny times their last blessings and talks also with te rest of the family, she studied for about 5 years and this keep's going on, you never stop with trying to understand what the holy bible truely means!
So what i am trying to say is that you have to have knowledge about the bible, but also the land where the bible has beel told and told and told and at last been written, so now i am coming back to my story, it is for years i am telling to people that they don't have to come to the church to be a good Christian, you have to be a good Christian in life, in your dayly contacts living from your heart, and indeed not asking to the world what can you do for me, but turning it up side down, what can i do for the world, for the people, my brothers and sisters who have less than me, and then wen you have something achieved and you are looking for a place to say thank you Lord for the joy you braught to me, to us, then there is a place called church, where you can gatter al the people arround you to sing and praise Him, to pray for more light in your heart, to thank Him!

i agree with what you say on this matter. I think for too many people going to church is more 'going through the motions' than it is a spiritual journey. however, I suppose people could also find a much worse place to be on any given day than to be in church. I understand your point on complacency is what I guess I am trying to say. You are right that 'God's' church does not always require four walls and a roof, elders, deacons, youth ministries, choirs, etc. I think people too easily loose the train of thought that a church is made up of members (individuals) who meet together to learn about and discuss God's word. All a true church honestly needs is a congregation (body) and the Holy Spirit (head). If these two things are in union then, in my opinion, you have a church...and as long as the Holy Spirit abides there then whatever you have to work with will be blessed just as much as any lavish building, a huge congregation, full choir, and bucket fulls of tithes and offerings. after all, God doesn't 'need' anything to manifest, especially fancy buildings and our money.

my heart truly goes out to Europe. While American life in the 21st century bares lil to no resemblence of a Godly nation, in my honest opinion, when I look at Europe and the things that have been considered 'norms' for so many years...I guess I do feel fortunate to have grown up in America and do take too many things that I have in my life for granted here. However, America is and has been taking a huge downswing in moral judgment over the years and I don't see much light at the end of the tunnel for too many Americans, especially our youth. I thought the days that I was growing up as a child were morbid and frayed, but when I look at all this country rallies for and what society is driving our young people to think is 'hip', 'normal', and 'just'....let's just say I feel like heading to the hill tops to shout down fire and brimstone like the prophets of the OT. In the end I realise all I can truly do is pray that the Lord will forgive this people for their rebelious ways and lift this cloud of lewd darkness that is being pulled over the eyes of our youth.

I think that its great you and your family starting a church where you are now living. I myself am preparing for a journey next year to hike across the eastern US from Georgia to Maine (2175 miles/6 months) to preach the Gospels along the way. If it pleases God and I make it throughout that journey and the one I plan for the west coast and the continental divide (goes through the middle of the US) then my heart and spirit are leading me to saying good bye to this beautiful country that I do so love, regardless of its destructive nature, and move to Europe to help in outreach ministries and things of that nature.

God Bless,

Hi Allen and thank you for your feedback!

I agree, you do need some knowledge because you need something to give to those who join the fellowship. But I also believe that many people that are sitting in church today have more than enough knowledge …even though the knowledge often is very unsystematic.

When my wife and I, 4 years ago, moved to the town we are living in, I had knowledge but I had not organised it. We moved to this town because there was no church here, so we opened up our home and started to invite people to come. Suddenly I had to dig in to the knowledge that I had and as I was preparing something to give to the people my own knowledge got more and more organised.

As I was studying the word and seeking the Lord to give me a word for the people that regularly were coming, I my self learn a lot of new things …I think I maybe learned just as much as the people who where coming.

So even though I don’t think you need I degree in theology, I do believe you need some basic knowledge. I also believe that you should not move to a new town to start up a new church if you are newly saved.

There is also a lot of good study material available for people who would like to lead bible studies.

When it comes to work, I know that this can be a challenge. When we moved I had to quit my old job and start to look for a new job in the town we moved. Now, we have been blessed to be able to do mission fulltime, and we are in the process of planning a new church plant

I agree with most of your comments.
I am afraid that the Church I attend is a very comfortable Church where the majority of people go to listen to the sermon and are not interested in doing anything to spread the Gospel to others outside of the building (other than their own group of friends).
I have to confess that at the moment I am not in a position to do much outside of the Church I am in full time work and I am also a Councilor for the district in which I live. I am a member of a Gospel Choir who spread the message via our music.
I am intending to do more evangelical work with outside groups in the coming year as my workload decreases.
While I do not think that you need a degree in theology to to start a evangelical group, I do think there is need to have more than a basic level of Christian knowledge so that you can contribute or understand what is being discussed.I study daily and with the help of God I will move forward to achieve what he has in mind for me.
Thanks for your contribution it has given me food for thought.
God bless you,
Allen
