I am currently studying the issue of salvation and if it is possible to loose it. I have some thoughts my self, but I would be very interested to see what you think about the topic.
Is it possible to loose your salvation?
If it is possible, what scriptures would you use?
...and how do you loose your salvation?
If it is impossible to loose you salvation, what scriptures would you use?
...and does it mean that you can live in sin and still come to heaven?
Yea, I know that it says in the book of Revelation 3:15 that if we are lukewarm, God will vomit us out of His mouth … to me that sound like loosing your salvation?
I wrestled with this for a long time, but then I read one statement by an author who pointed out that if we can supposedly "lose our salvation" then that means there must be a sin or sins out there capable of nullifying the work of Christ. That would make Christ's work in subjection to something "higher?" God forbid!
What would it be? Some have said that it would be rejection of Christ, but is that truly possible after having come to know Him? Of tasting the goodness? Of sharing in such a miracle? Can one really turn his or her back after having participated in such life? To me that would be the ultimate blasphemy, and if I got to that point, would I really care? A pastor said one time during a sermon that people (believers) frequently asked him if they should be concerned about the "ultimate sin", the "unforgiveable" sin of blasphemy. He told them if they were asking him and concerned, they hadn't commited it. Not to worry.
Jesus prayed to keep us. (see John) The Bible tells me that I am sealed until that day! (see Peter) God's given me a gift that He won't take back, and having participated, have no desire whatsoever to give back. I no longer wrestle. His hold on me is too strong. I depend on Him to hold me, for I can't hold myself.
Yea, I of course believe that no matter what sin you have done Jesus have already forgiven it, and if you turn to God He will always receive you.
But if I become a Christian, and then after some years start to live in sin… can I then loose my salvation? …or maybe it would be better to say “unconsciously” walked away from God.
I of course believe that if I repent, then I can come back to God, but I guess the issue is if I am able to unconsciously walk away …that is… still believe that I am walking with God, but because of my sin, actually be separated from God.
I will never leave you or forsake you, if you live in sin all the time have you really given your heart to Christ, you can`t put new wine in old self, only one sin that can keep you out rejecting the Holy Spirit till your death after that there is no help, your whole life he is trying to bring you in, if you have ears to hear hear what the Holy Spirit is saying!!!!
You have left out a critical part of the scripture .
- The key to this “Hebrews 13:5” scripture is “for he hath said” Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
“If he has said it then where did he say it ?”Deut. 31:6 (KJV) Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
fail. raw-faw'; leave, let alone;.
The truth is that this scripture has nothing to do with Eternal Security but rather that if we are Obedient to his word he will always be their to help us fight our battles Just as he was with Joshua “Read all of chapter 31”
Nothing can separate us from His love as He loves us, He will love us no matter what, but He will not force us to serve Him.
His love was displayed for us before we were born as Jesus was preordained to die before the foundation of the world. He loved us before we loved Him. His love will never change, but we do not remain in His grace unless we obey Him. He loves us while we are “YET” sinners. We do have eternal security on God’s side but it is not guaranteed on our parts.
God will always remain the same and His love, commandments, conditions, and expectations will always be the same.
He is married to the back slider that God, if your child messed up would you take his last name away???? that is in the natural, so if being born again is being like a child what happens if you fall and scrap your knees won`t Jesus pick you up and hold you like a father would in the natural???? then tell you to watch out for the bumps in the road you could fall and hurt yourself< I believe if you gave your heart to christ he will finish what he started in you!!!!
The comment was made to the Jews those of them that backslid went to hell.
They arent one scripture that suggest such a thing. The problem is people dont understand covenant.
I had a conversation about this a while back. I think that a backslider (still saved) can fall in apostacy. I believe then, that there is no salvation in him any more, unless he comes back to Christ.
I could be most wrong, but thats what I got from reading and studying for myself.
It would and is extreemly dangerous to just think that your right.
The ungodly the Unrighteous the sinner and the luke warm all wind up in hell.
The backslidders in the old testament went to hell.
God Bless
